Production Accountant


The National Theatre’s mission is to make world class theatre that’s entertaining, challenging and inspiring – and to make it for everyone. It aims to reach the widest possible audience and to be as inclusive, diverse and national as possible with a broad range of productions that play in London, on tour around the UK, on Broadway and across the globe.

National Theatre Productions (NTP) purpose is to extend the life of NT productions, without subsidy. Since 2009, NTP has transferred 14 productions to the West End, taken six productions to Broadway, toured the UK and Ireland extensively with a broad repertoire of productions originating at the National Theatre and taken the Award winning productions of War Horse and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time on tour around the globe. National Theatre productions have now been seen across five continents by more than 13 million people worldwide

Reporting to the NTP Managing Director the Production Accountant plays a key role in evaluating opportunities and delivering transfers and tours. They are responsible for producing financial information, scenario modelling and working with their co-producer and investor counterparts as well as liaising with tax advisors. The role will also present budgets and forecasts at the monthly NTP steering meeting and prepares papers and attends the meetings of the NTP Board.

To be suitable for the role you need to be creative and innovative with experience of financial modelling within either theatre or other production settings. Being a strong communicator with the ability to build relationships with a wide-ranging group of stakeholders, and translate complex financial information to non-finance colleagues, is essential. An accounting qualification is desirable but the relevant experience is more important.

The role will offer hybrid working with a mixture of working from home and being in at the Theatre.
