At Royal Borough of Kingston you will be part of an authority with some very exciting work and projects happening – for instance, the largest housing regeneration programme ever delivered in Kingston. You will work a three-day per week (Mon-Weds) as part of a job share and Kingston offer a very flexible hybrid working environment.
What will you do?
If successful, you will support the development of the Medium-Term Financial Plan and take responsibility for ensuring the MTFP is underpinned by robust and accurate working papers.
You will also lead and co-ordinate the creation of detailed budget estimates ensuring these are implemented and aligned to the published MTFP. You will provide detailed analysis of grant settlements and other funding announcements, ensuring the impact on the council is assessed and communicated clearly to senior officers.
You will lead on future years forecasting and scenario planning for income and Business Rates and Council Tax, whilst working closely with the Financial Reporting & Control Managers to provide expert advice on the budgetary impact of the collection fund.
You will support senior management to oversee implementation of budget proposals and update medium term financial plans considering new and emerging financial issues. With fantastic exposure to senior management.
What will the role require?
Although is it essential that you have completed a relevant professional qualification such as CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or ACA etc. We are open to talking to candidates recently qualified and the Council is also open minded on the sector you come from.
It is however highly desirable you will have previous experience supporting the development of a Medium Term Financial Plan or helping develop strategy alongside the service. And have some experience and or exposure to working in a business partnering model.
