Finance Business Partner

Ivy Rock Partners is recruiting a Finance Business Partner to join the team at Serpentine. Serpentine is a world-class arts organisation dedicated to accessibility and local community, showcasing progressive and accessible art for all to enjoy through free programmes of exhibitions and live events. Situated in stunning surroundings in the heart of Kensington Gardens near Hyde Park, Serpentine is at the forefront of producing and hosting creative, innovative, and inclusive and culturally important contemporary art and events.

As Finance Business Partner you will work across the organisation, building partnerships to influence and support tactical and strategic business decisions promoting improvements and cost reductions, be heavily involved in management reporting, budget setting and forecasting, and work closely with the Head of Finance and the Senior Financial Accountant to ensure that Serpentine’s finance system is developed and deployed effectively, optimising impact for all stakeholders across the business.

Duties will include:

  • Provision of accurate, reliable and timely financial information including monthly management accounts, Operating Committee forecast, budget-holder reports and project reporting.
  • Build trusted partnership with the business to influence and support tactical and strategic business decisions promoting business improvements and cost reductions.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, and the ongoing monitoring of actual and forecast financial performance, identifying any deviations and highlight them to the Head of Finance.
  • Provide commercial analysis and support including, but not limited to, margin and profitability analysis, costings, forecasting and reviewing contracts.
  • Monitor funding budgets and work closely with the Development team on donor reporting and funds management.
  • Produce cash flow reports and prepare and monitor the cash flow forecast.
  • Ensure an appropriate distinction is maintained between restricted and unrestricted funds and monitor use of restricted funds to ensure all restrictions are observed.
  • Assist in the production of annual financial statements and audit in line with the Charity SORP, Companies Act and all relevant legislative requirements.
  • Ensure necessary financial reports for external bodies are completed appropriately.
  • Work with the Head of Finance to develop key performance metrics, appraise the current activities of the organisation, and identify and communicate opportunities to maximise revenue and/or reduce expenditure.
  • Be a champion for Arts Council England’s Inclusivity and Relevance Investment Principle to ensure best practice through a proactive approach to equality, diversity and inclusion.

About You

  • Full accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills, and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience communicating finance to those with non-finance backgrounds
  • Proven experience of management accounts, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and data effectively.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Knowledge of financial accounting activities and statutory accounts.
  • Proven ability to work accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Commercial business acumen.

Hybrid working with 3 days per week in their beautiful offices at Kensington Gardens and 2 days from home
Salary range of £50,000 – 55,000 per annum dependent on experience
