The Greater London Authority (GLA) is the centre of government for London, serving both the Mayor and the London Assembly. The Mayor of London sets the budget and is responsible for making London a better place for everyone and the Assembly holds the Mayor and Mayoral advisers to account. The GLA itself plays a key role in delivering projects across Greater London over areas including Housing, Transport, Environment, Culture, Economy and Regeneration.
We are currently recruiting for several roles in the expanding finance team, so they are better placed to support the delivery of the amazing work the GLA does. With all the roles you will be able to have a major impact across London and the people who live, work and travel there.
The Capital Accountant takes a lead on the delivery of effective capital accounting for the GLA and GLAP entities. This includes understanding and reporting on capital resource availability for financial planning purposes, leading on delivering the capital elements of the closure of accounts and providing advice and support to senior stakeholders throughout the organisation ensuring that capital accounting issues are understood and accommodated. The role will also look to streamline the recording and reporting on capital activity.
To be suitable for the role you need to be a qualified accountant with excellent technical knowledge and previous experience of supporting the capital accounting function in a large complex organisation. Experience of providing credible professional advice, challenge and innovative solutions to senior stakeholders is also essential.
