2 x Heads of Finance (Housing and Place & Corporate)

Thurrock

Do you want to be part of making Thurrock fit for the future?

Thurrock Council is on a major change journey and is looking for people to help in the delivery of this. Following the Council being put into intervention in 2022 a vast amount of work has already been successfully undertaken to ensure the Council is back on track and moving towards financial stability, but there is more to do.

The Council is currently recruiting to a number of roles across the finance team to help drive the Councils new Corporate Plan ‘A Fresh Start for Thurrock’, which sets out how they will operate over the next five years as it recovers and rebuilds trust with residents and communities. The finance team will play a hugely important role in securing the Councils future.

The two Heads of Finance report to the Assistant Director of Financial Management & Procurement and are key members of the Councils senior management team responsible for leading and developing teams that deliver a comprehensive, high quality and professional finance business partnering service to their directorates. The successful candidates will be expected to build relationships and work closely with Members and senior stakeholders to provide accurate financial advice that aids decision making and drive service transformation. They will also lead on developing complex financial models, improve on value for money and deliver on efficiency targets as well as representing the Council on national working groups.

The directorates the roles are supporting are Housing and Place & Corporate.

To be suitable for these roles you need to be a fully qualified accountant, with proven experience of delivering an effective finance business partnering service in a complex organisation. The ability to develop relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders challenging and influencing as necessary is essential, as is previous experience of managing and developing a team. Previous experience in the service and sector is highly desirable but not essential.

We are looking for ambitious finance professionals who are excited by a challenge and being part of a transformation programme that will have a massively positive impact on the local community. If this is you, do please get in touch.
