Join a dynamic and committed Finance team and contribute to keeping Hertfordshire safe.
Ivy Rock Partners is delighted to be exclusively working with Hertfordshire Constabulary in their search for a Senior Finance Partner.
Hertfordshire is a brilliant place to live and work, providing a mix of rural and urban communities, thriving businesses together with some of the best transport links in the country. Central London can be reached in 30 minutes by train from many parts of the county.
The Constabulary is a modern, proactive, and flexible police force. They put the communities they serve first and are there for victims when they need them the most. The county has one of the fastest-growing populations in the country, which is bringing significant increases in demand for policing services and exciting opportunities for the future!
The Finance department forms a critical function in the organisation to ensure that funding is best utilised to provide a high-quality policing service to the people of Hertfordshire. The department has recently adopted a Finance Business Partnering model to provide strategic support to Senior Management across the organisation and support Budget Holders to operate within their budget.
This is a fantastic opportunity to provide wider strategic insights across departmental boundaries – linking analysis of financial and operational performance, the police financial climate, macro-economic trends, and the impact of policy developments both local and national, as well as implementing a Finance department which is fit for the future.
You will oversee the Finance Business Partnering Team as well as having personal ownership of a business portfolio. You will be responsible for embedding the team into the department and the organisation, enabling Chief Officers and Senior Manager to integrate financial implications into decision making and developing financial expertise across the organisation. This role will support the Head of Finance by leading, managing and developing the finance department to ensure a best practice and value adding approach to financial management across the Constabulary.
As the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will lead the team of 3 Business Partners and will play a pivotal role both within the Finance department and the wider organisation, bringing together both financial and performance data from operational units, providing insightful corporate financial reporting and help to ensure the Constabulary’s resources are being allocated efficiently and effectively.
This role will work closely with the Chief Accountant and Head of Finance to ensure the strategic aims of the Constabulary are balanced with financial resilience and integrity.
To be successful in this role, you will be fully CCAB qualified with substantial business partnering experience within a public sector organisation and the ability to demonstrate a range of soft skills, including project management, relationship building, negotiation, influencing, and facilitation. Ideally, you will have experience in management and in leading a team to drive change and improvements.
You will have strong analytical skills, both financial and non-financial. The ability to see the value in the information you provide and to inspire others to make use of it.
